Our History
The Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery (AMCE, by its Spanish acronym) was founded on June 26, 1991, as the Mexican Association of Laparoscopic Surgery, thanks to the vision and dedication of 18 surgeons passionate about minimally invasive procedures. Initially, the creation of the AMCL was met with skepticism and, in some cases, ridicule.
However, the integration of the association represented a crucial step for those of us who firmly believed that endoscopic surgery represented the future of medicine.
It was founded by a group of distinguished surgeons whose passion and commitment have been fundamental to the development of laparoscopic surgery in Mexico.

In 2000, during the presidency of Dr. Mucio Moreno, the name was changed to the "Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery."
This name change reflects the evolution and expansion of the field of endoscopic surgery, which encompasses procedures beyond traditional laparoscopy.
It has been a true pleasure to see how this organization has grown and matured, becoming a strong family with roots both in Mexico and internationally.
Since its founding, AMCE has proven to be a pioneer in promoting cutting-edge surgical techniques, contributing significantly to the advancement of laparoscopic surgery. The association has established itself not only in Mexico but also in the international medical community, thanks to its commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuing education.
AMCE’s mission is to improve patient health through education, research, and collaboration in the field of minimally invasive surgery. An objective achieved by being a global leader in the field, promoting quality standards and professional ethics in all its activities.
